Union County Independent Soccer League
UCISL offers recreational soccer for those kids who have never played soccer before or just want to play soccer for the fun of it without an emphasis on competition. UCISL registers players twice each year, typically starting January 1st for spring soccer and June 1st for fall soccer. Recreational players range in age from 2 years of age (birth year 2020) to high school age students (birth year 2004).
Parent coached, small-sided, single-gender teams are a hallmark of our program. We promote technical, tactical and character development for kids of all skill levels in a fun, family environment. Our registration fee continues to be affordable and is based on age level and level of play and includes membership in Ohio South, Accident Insurance, a uniform shirt, training for coaches and referees…and much, MUCH more!
Recreational teams from U3-U12 are formed based on birth year and gender. We do not take requests to be on a certain team or to be with a certain coach or player. All teams are coached by parent volunteers. Coaches will be allowed to schedule practices on a day that works best for them and the majority of the team. No experience is necessary to volunteer to coach. UCISL offers training from Elite FC professional coaching staff. Practices can be held Mon-Fri starting 5:00 pm or after at UCJRD.
U3 to U5 teams will have a 30 min practice once a week. U6 teams will practice 45 minutes once a week and U7 to U10/9 teams will practice 1 hour once a week. U12/11 teams will practice for 1 hour once a week with an optional second practice. U12/11 teams will travel to Delaware and Plain City for 2-3 games per season with a round robin tourney on the last week of the season in Delaware. All other games and practices are held a UCJRD. Games are played on Saturday mornings and sometimes can go into Saturday afternoons. Some U12/11 games will be on Saturday afternoon.
Children are required to wear shin guards (under their socks) and tennis shoes or soccer cleats for practices and games. There is a difference between soccer cleats and football/baseball cleats. Soccer cleats do not have a toe cleat. Players will be provided with matching shirts for game days. Shorts and socks can be any color. No jewelry is permitted during practices or games. This includes small earrings.
Recreational Middle School teams will play each fall and spring in the MSSA. Home games and practices are in Marysville. Away games are in the Central Ohio area, and there is an end of season tourney. MSSA co-ed teams play on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings or afternoons. MSSA girls play on Wednesday night and Saturday morning/afternoon. Teams are formed based on number of participants and coaches. Limited spots are available and teams are coached by parent volunteers. Teams practice once or twice a week. Games are scheduled by MSSA. Registration fees do not include a full uniform. The uniform fee is extra for new players.
Recreational High School co-ed teams will play each fall and spring in HSSA. Home games and practices are in Marysville. Away games are in the Central Ohio area. Teams are formed based on number of participants and coaches. Limited spots are available and teams are coached by parent volunteers. Teams practice once or twice a week. Games are scheduled by HSSA and are normally scheduled on Sundays. Registration fees do not include a full uniform. The uniform fee is extra for new players.
Union County Independent Soccer League fees per season: $65.00 U3 - U5, $75.00 U6 - U12, $100.00 MSSA with $45.00 uniform fee as extra, and $75.00 HSSA with $45.00 uniform fee as extra. Refunds have to be requested in writing before the first game.
